Description

Early colour footage of guests arriving at a wedding on the Malone Road in Belfast and scenes outside the reception at Belfast Castle afterwards. This is the original unedited footage which was used in the making of the Super 8 Story, '1939 Wedding'.

Notes

Geoff Goldsbrough was an agent for electrical equipment at the time of his marriage to Betty Wright. The event was captured on 16mm film when he decided to hire a cameraman to record the guests arriving at June McCracken Memorial Church on the Malone Road and afterwards at the reception at Belfast Castle. The family began to shoot their own 16mm film afterwards his son, also named Geoff, remembers them “being shown on the wall at home”. To Geoff they remain important for “the pleasure of seeing the family when they were young and seeing my mother and father when they were alive”.
