Description

Margaret Barry was a Cork-born traveller who moved to England in the 1950s and became legendary worldwide as a singer and banjo player. Her accompanist, Maire (Maura) O'Malley, later appeared in Alan Parker's 'The Commitments' in 1991 as the mother of Joey 'The Lips' Fagan and as Mrs Kennedy, the Postmistress, in Kirk Jones' 'Waking Ned Devine' in 1998.

Notes

Shot List

Margaret Barry and fiddler Maire (Maura) O'Malley play to a crowd outside the old Smithfield Market in Belfast. Barry sings her well-known song, 'The Blarney Stone'. Later, she is interviewed and talks about the Blarney Stone and her memories of Belfast. The two finish with a traditional instrumental piece.
