Description

Northern Ireland poet Seamus Heaney was awarded the coveted Nobel Prize for Literature on 12 November, 1995.

Notes

Heaney was awarded the prize for what the Nobel committee described as, 'works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past'.
