Description

Footage from the Lord Mayor’s Show in Belfast from May 1959. With Ulster Television about to hit the airwaves in October that year, the main focus of this film was on the float promoting the forthcoming commercial station. A mock-up of stage performers being filmed by a UTV studio camera also had the names of the forthcoming TV series highlights along the side. There is also footage of the Lord Mayor handing out awards for the best floats as well as the parade itself in front of Belfast City Hall in streets lined with crowds.
