Description

The music executive, Seymour Stein, was responsible for launching the careers of some of pop and rock music’s most iconic artists. Some of his signees include Talking Heads, The Ramones, The Pretenders, Madonna and, of course, The Undertones. In this interview, he is reunited with Mickey Bradley of The Undertones.

They discuss how The Undertones came onto Stein’s radar and their first trip to the USA. Stein provides a lot of insight into the New York scene at the time. We also get the chance to see around Stein’s office.

This footage, and the interview, was recorded for the 2001 documentary Teenage Kicks by Tom Collins and Vinny Cunningham. The footage was donated to the Tower Museum and the Digital Film Archive by Vinny Cunningham. This video has been edited to remove a silent section, but it maintains the recording of “noddies”, a vital component of documentary interview sections.

Notes

Vinny Cunningham is a filmmaker based in Derry.
