Description

Votes for Women.

Women were a vital part of the founding of the Republic of Ireland. In the nineteenth century, the nascent Women’s Suffrage movement in Ireland looked towards England’s Suffragettes for guidance. Various breakthroughs led to a new generation of university-educated women who sought to forge an independent movement tied to Ireland and Irish women. This documentary covers the arduous battle and the histories of the various women’s groups that advocated for Irish women’s right to vote.
