Ever wondered what it was like in the RUC in the mid-1970s? Wonder no more. Policeday, a promotional film from the period allows the viewer to experience the daily trials, tribulations and triumphs of the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

A recruitment film intended for schools, universities and general audiences, Policeday portrays the ‘normal’ rather than ‘militarized’ policing that was emerging in Northern Ireland at the time, detailing the various criminal and civic activities of the force.

However, what is perhaps most striking is not what we see, but we don't see. The violence of The Troubles and civic unrest is scarcely alluded to.
