Football in the 60s
Relive a golden age of football with the stars of the Irish League and the international team.
Relive a time in Irish football when the terraces still thronged with tens of thousands of supporters and the UTV cameras caught up with some of the leading local stars and managers of the day in interviews. The supporters also get in on the act via vox pops to give the fan view on developments in the game.
Meanwhile, the internation team, fresh from a quarter final place at the 1958 World Cup, attempted to emulate that success under the stewardship of stars from that previous team in the shape of Bertie Peacock and then Billy Bingham, in his first spell as Northern Ireland manager. And into the mix came exciting new players who would quickly become household names such as George Best and Pat Jennings.
