James Houston
Detailing life in Strabane and surrounding areas
A series of charming and evocative films, shot on 16mm by James Houston, a keen and skilful amateur film maker, based in Strabane in the 1940s and 1950s.
A number of 'finished' works - filmed and produced under the moniker 'Cine Craft - combine colourful footage with stills, art and delightful intertitles. These complete works are complemented by a number of smaller film excerpts, or rushes.
Whilst a focus on life in Strabane is the basis of much of this material, other locations and activity - such as the Moy Fishery - or historic events - the Coronation of Elizabeth II - also feature prominently.
