Jimmy Greene gets the news stories
Jimmy Greene (1931-2021) was a broadcaster, actor and writer. Although he is listed as a 'continuity announcer' on early UTV, he was so much more than that, becoming a presenter on the daily news programme Roundabout and often out asking the people on the the street their opinions on current matters and investigating all manner of news stories. He interviewed celebrities such as Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson.
After he left UTV in 1965, Jimmy went on to have a long and lustrous career as an actor, starring in Doctor Who, Holby City and Downton Abbey among many other film and television productions.
