Rushes from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board
A scenic scrapbook saved from the cutting room floor
Enjoy the silent scenes that have survived thanks to National Museums NI. These colourful rushes were filmed by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board Film Unit during the 1950s and 1960s. They give a glimpse of local festivals, sport and landscape, which would have been woven into narrated films to sell the country as a holiday destination.
Explore our Projects section to see how local artists, poets and musicans have been inspired by these scenes.
