Description

Leslie Dawes investigates the lives of unmarried mothers. First, he speaks to Colonel Warren of the Salvation Army about how the young women are helped. Next, he calls to the Good Shepherd convent on the Ormeau Road and talks to the Mother Superior about how some women come from very far away but most are from Northern Ireland. Most babies are placed for adoption. An anonymous unmarried mother talks to Leslie about her treatment at the Salvation Army and her future.

This interview reflects the views of the time on pregnancy outside of marriage.
