Jimmy Greene interviews John Haugh, a local woodwork teacher and sculptor, who created the new wooden figures for the crib scene at Newry Cathedral. These beautiful figures are still displayed on Hill Street every year. The work took Mr Haugh ten months, and he carved the figures from African white wood.
John Haugh went on to become a successful sculpter. His work can be seen in many chapels in the Newry area, and a bust he created for the Kennedy family is on display at the White House.
