Description

This six-part-series, narrated by Raymond Maxwell, looks back at Ireland's contribution to the film industry and envisions how it might look in the future.

With the help of film historians George Morrison and Liam O'Leary, learn how Irish society first reacted to the moving image and the demand it commanded. We also hear from Victor Mara who recollects the first film he ever saw in 1897, were the reaction of the audience "was terrific".  Similarly, Ralph Dickson, recounts going to the Grosvenor Hall with his grandmother at the age of four where he "got the fright" of his life as a "lion seemed to jump out of the picture".
