In this episode, Joe Mahon explores how ethnic minorities contribute both economically and culturally to Northern Ireland and the challenges they face whilst living here.
Though Northern Ireland's population and mix of diversity and cultures is changing, we are still "relative beginners at the world of multiculturalism" which presents us with an opportunity to try and get things right and avoid attitudes of mistrust and suspicion. Mahon sets out to show the viewer just how vital migrant workers are to this country and to break down some of the stigma which has - at times - been placed upon them.
From going into grocery shops which sell food which is more familiar to those in Eastern Europe, to speaking with volunteers at Windsor Women's Centre, this programme aims to teach us more about ethnic minorities which make up Northern Ireland - and remind us that everyone's more than their ethnicity, with a wide range of interests and skills!
