In the late 1950s and early 1960s, more than 10,000 children in 46 countries were born with deformities, such as phocomelia, as a consequence of Thalidomide use. The drug had been prescribed for morning sickness but caused traumatic birth defects. 

James Alexander Young (23 May 1918 – 5 July 1974), better known as Jimmy Young or simply Our Jimmy, was a Northern Irish actor and comedian born in Ballymoney and brought up in Belfast. He performed on stage and television. His comedy records sold over a quarter of a million copies.
