Description

David Dunseith presents this episode from the North Coast of Ireland, and explores its famous sites by walking which is "the only way to get to know a place like this... to get close to it and in a sense, a taste of it".

Described as a "rugged causeway coast, with its coves, castles and armada treasures", Dunseith first goes to Ballycastle which hosts views of Rathlin Island. A hidden history of Ballycastle, is its history with Marconi the Italian inventor and electrical engineer. Marconi chose Ballycastle and Rathlin Island to carry out an experiment of long distance communication, which is commemorated with an environmental sculpture.

Next up is Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge, which is "not just slung across here for tourists... it has a much more practical purpose, in fact its the only link local fishermen have with the tiny little base on this rock". Finally, the star of the show, the Giant's Causeway is seen, dubbed by many as the "8th wonder of the world", though not according to Dr Johnson who says "it's worth seeing, but not going to see"!

Final shots are of the beaches of Portrush and the North Antrim Safari Park.
