After Image - NI Film and Television histories.

Chris Parr, theatre director and television drama producer, is interviewed by Hugh Odling-Smee.

Chris Parr was born in Dorking in Surrey, and went to university in Oxford. He discusses early memories of going to the cinema. Howard Brenton (playwright) and David Wood (actor) were in his class at school.

He studied Classics at Oxford, but did not finish his degree.

After working in theatre, the BBC ask him if he wants to work in Northern Ireland Some of his best known work includes the Billy plays, which starred Kenneth Branagh, and The Long March.

Notes

Chris Parr was born in Dorking in 1943, he grew up in Little Hampton. He has worked as a theatre director, television drama producer and executive.
