Description

A profile following Ballylesson HPS, a pigeon racing club, featuring interviews with members both new and seasoned.

Andrew, from Drumbo, is the clubs youngest member at 12 years old, and has been racing since he has been 8 after getting into it through his grandfather. However, this is rare, with John Patterson commenting on the reduction of interest in the sport and that there doesn't "seem to be young fanciers coming in", this he puts down to the wealth of entertainment now available for youths. Another rarity in the club it seems is women, Sharon Flood shares that when she started there were very little women involved, though "as the years have gone by, more women are getting involved".

Scenes of the Kings Hall, Balmoral, show a gathering of fanciers for a charity auction event with hundreds of birds to be bought - every pigeon lover's dream! Next on the clubs calendar is a race, with Bertie Fletcher and Andrew explaining techniques to get your pigeons fit and ready and how the results are calculated with the winner announced.
