Úna Monaghan is a Belfast harpist, experimental composer, and sound engineer known for her innovative and genre-traversing music and art.
Úna has spent a lifetime steering the course between Irish traditional music, experimental music, improvisation, and interactive technologies. Undertaking one of her most ambitious projects to date – Aonaracht, a six-part suite for six solo musicians – Úna must now convince other top traditional musicians of the merits of the art form she is pioneering, all while embarking on another new project: motherhood.
Featuring contributions from some of the finest traditional musicians in Ireland, including Pauline Scanlon, Paddy Glackin, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jack Talty, Saileog Ní Cheannabháin and Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn, Aonaracht follows one of Ireland’s most exciting talents, the making of an album and the conflict between parenthood and artistic expression.
