Description

Charlie Witherspoon reports for UTV on an important cross-border energy scheme and important piece of engineering. Just over the border from Northern Ireland in Co Donegal lies Ballyshannon where a huge hydroelectric complex had been built with full co-operation between the governments of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Charlie spoke to Paul Jackson, a hydroelectric engineer, who helps control the level of Lower Lough Erne. He also speaks to the Regional Generation Engineer, James Lawlor, who has oversight of the whole North West area and has been involved in the project since its beginning just after the Second World War.
