Description

This selection of silent footage shows the events taking place behind the scenes at the launch of Ulster Television in October 1959. As well as various dignitaries being shown around the studios we are able to look down from the gallery through the studio lights to see Sir Laurence Olivier seated in position as he prepared to make his speech for the opening broadcast on UTV.
