Description

Documenting the lives of the residents of the Lower Ormeau Road, and the challenges they face both with community development and sectarian violence.

The Concerned Community group was established after the horror of what residents call the "bookies massacre" at Sean Graham's bookmakers', where members of the Ulster Defence Association opened fire at the customers, killing five civilians and wounding another nine. The group provides the community a chance to gather residents together for activities, and as well known local, Dolores says, gives them "a wee trip to let our hair down"!

Other issues tackled in the programme is the area's level of deprivation - with unemployment figures in excess of 40% - and a big concern for the community is the 12th July marches, which come through the area, and causes the RUC to block in the streets so residents can't leave their homes.
