Description

Alexander Irvine is one of the most famed of Co Antrim writers. He emigrated to the USA as a young man and became a preacher and socialist thinker but never forgot his roots and published a number of books both autobiographical and fictional set in his Antrim homeland, the most famous of which is My Lady of the Chimney Corner. This film features footage of the grave in Antrim where his ashes are interred, as well as the remains of the lane, Pogue’s Entry, in which he was born. At this time plans were being made to restore what was left of Pogue’s Entry, including Irvine’s Chimney Corner house, as a tourist attraction.
