Description

 A Film by Hugh Kennedy, showing the ceremony of Cardinal Conway being appointed to the See of Armagh. We can see the crowds of people and the cameras from Teilifís Éireann.

Cardinal William John Conway served as Archbishop as Armagh, Primate of all Ireland and Cardinal from the 1960s, until his death in 1977.

Credits

Cardinal William Conway was born on the Falls Road in Belfast in 1913, he attended St Mary’s Christian Brothers’ School in Belfast, St Malachy’s College in Belfast, Queen’s University and St Patrick’s College in Maynooth. 
He died on the 17th April 1977 and is buried on the grounds of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh.
