Description

A film by Samuel Bracegirdle, showing the city centre of Belfast. People are selling flowers outside City Hall, and we see buses to the Cavehill Road and Castle Junction.

A religious procession leaves from St Mary's Church, possibly a May Day celebration. The viewer can see statues, religious dress, and the crossed keys symbol, a symbol of the Pope's authority.

Notes

Samuel Bracegirdle was an amateur filmmaker from Belfast, his work dates from the 1950s to the 1970s. Many of his films show his home life and holidays with family and friends. He also took an interest in local history and Unionist heritage.
