Description

“Graveyards tell strange stories” was a common catchphrase utilised by UTV reporter Charlie Witherspoon on his travels across Northern Ireland. Here he visits a graveyard at Kilbroney just above Rostrevor on the southern shore of Co Down to share the story of a famous burial. There lies Patrick Murphy who apparently started growing uncontrollably in his twenties and eventually reached the height of 8’ 1”.

Charlie tells the tale of Patrick’s death in France and the return of his body for burial with rumours that the body was sold and the coffin contained no one.
