The Digital Film Archive looks back at Christmas traditions: This one is very important! We can't get any presents if we don't leave out the stockings for Santa to fill.

Christmas Eve, 1964 and Brian and David are getting ready for Santa's visit. They leave out notes and fix a stocking each to the mantlepiece. 

Notes

Why do we hang a Christmas stocking? Legend has it that the tradition originated from the story of St Nicolas, a saint from Turkey who went on to become Santa Claus.
