Church service at Moira Parish Church commemorating the closure of Waringfield Military Hospital. The hospital was founded in 1942 by the US military at Waringfield House near Moira. Wounded soldiers from throughout the world underwent treatment at Waringfield Military Hospital. British, American, and Belgian troops as well as returning prisoners of war from the Far East occupied beds in the Moira hospital. Ambulances also arrived regularly from the nearby Maghaberry Airfield, Co. Antrim. The hospital closed when military operations moved to Musgrave Park Hospital in 1963. The house was demolished in the late 1980s.
