Dennis Taylor's epic world snooker final in 1985 against
Steve Davis gripped the nation, as Taylor recovered from 7-0 down to win the
title with the final black ball of the final frame. This report opens with
footage of Taylor potting a black ball (not from the world championship) before
cutting to celebrations in his hometown of Coalisland in Co Tyrone.
Taylor's
father, Tommy, recounts how he felt watching the match and is asked if his son
had been in contact with him since. There is also a report from Taylor's old
primary school, Primate Dixon Memorial, where the headmaster recalls the
player's recent visit, when he made friends with the children. The young pupils
tell of having stayed up late the previous night to watch the winning shot,
while the headmaster also answers the question of whether the sign of a good
snooker player is a misspent youth. The pupils end the report with a rousing
cheer of "Dennis Taylor is magic!"
