Description

A compilation of footage documenting the progress of Ulster Television as it prepared to commence broadcasting in 1959. The film skips back and forth from the building work taking place on Black Mountain for the main transmitter and outhouses as well as the work carried out on readying Havelock House on the Ormeau Road for its role as the UTV headquarters. Exterior and interior footage of the temporary UTV offices in Donegall Street shows the work of preparing the station for launch as well as engineers carrying out transmission tests at control desks and monitors in Havelock House.
