Description

Film of solemn religious ceremony, features intriguing footage of unusual Communion service custom at Glascar Presbyterian Church.

The Reverend Jim Young leads worshippers in a Presbyterian Communion service. As the congregation prepare for the sacrament they sing psalm 116 'I will take the cup of Salvation'. Note how they maintain the curious tradition of sitting in the aisles to celebrate Communion.
 

Notes

Glascar Presbyterian church has roots dating back to 1756, when it was formed as a Seceder church. This film comes from the collection of National Museums Northern Ireland
