Description

The proposed candidates for the upcoming election arrive at Belfast Courthouse to lodge their papers. David Overend is the Labour candidate for the hotly-contested North Belfast seat. William McGookin asked him about the controversial decision of Edward Carson Jr to stand (he later withdrew). 

Notes

David Overend came from Yorkshire and was on the National Executive of the Northern Ireland Labour Party. He would go on to form the Independent Unionist Party and then the Progressive Unionist Party.
