Description

On 1st February 1913 the Nationalist candidate (member of the Irish Parliamentary Party), David C. Hogg defeated Colonel Pakenham, the Unionist candidate in Derry by the narrow margin of 57 votes. This was a a severe disappointment to the Unionists as it meant that the Nationalists held a majority of seats (a majority of one) in the nine-county province of Ulster.
