Developed by Colin and Allen Anderson of Anderson & McAuley, this 30,000sq ft store, ten shops and car park, would be known as Supermac and open in 1964. The estimated cost of the build was £150,000. The site would later be renamed as Forestside.
The site for the new Supermac shopping centre would be on the corner of Hillfoot and Saintfield Roads. The developers, Colin and Allen Anderson had worked in the family business of Anderson and McAuley, the famous department store in Belfast city centre. The idea of a shopping centre was a new one at this time.
The shopping centre still exists and is now known as Forestside.
