Première, short films from Northern Ireland
Première is a film production scheme which produces locally
made short films each year. Conceived in 1997, the scheme has gone from
strength to strength, producing innovative, award winning films which make
creative use of Northern Ireland locations.
Funded by the Northern Ireland Film Commission, Belfast City
Council, British Screen and, this year for the first time, BBC Northern Ireland
which replaces the funding provided by Ulster Television from 1997 to 1999, the
Première short film production scheme is designed to showcase local film-making
talent and to provide a training opportunity for new entrants and more
experienced crew alike. Festivals worldwide are eager to see new Northern
Ireland productions and Première offers film-makers a global audience and a
stepping stone in their careers.
