Description

Councillor Dr Kenneth Bew, who was the Belfast Police Committee Chairman, took to the air in 1966 to view the problem of Belfast traffic with a bird’s eye view. His helicopter took off from Ormeau Park and was piloted by Captain Simon Lowman of the 4th-7th Royal Dragoon Guards. New parking restrictions had been introduced the day before in an effort to alleviate the traffic flow problems in the city.
