Description

Writer, Brian McAvera, is interviewed about his play Undertow of the Armada, which is being filmed at the Giant's Causeway.

McAvera, gives a short synopsis of the play, which is about a group of school kids who go to the Ulster Museum to see the La Girona. One of the boys becomes fascinated by it and convinces his teacher to go to the Giants Causeway, where one of his classmates falls into the sea and a sailor from the original La Girona wreck comes to save him...

Notes

Dramarama was a series of plays for children which featured the supernatural frequently and science fiction occasionally.

In the 1960s, a team of divers recovered what has since been named as the greatest ever haul of treasure salvaged from a wrecked Spanish Armada ship. Featuring awe-inspiring treasure including coins and gold jewellery, much of the haul is now on display in the Ulster Museum in Belfast.
