Description

We haven't got much information on the occasion of this UTV recording of the famous McPeake family, but some brief contemporary newspaper coverage suggests that this was the second traditional music festival to be held at Clotworthy House in Antrim. The full McPeake family gathered in a courtyard to give a taste of what folk music fans could expect the following week - if the weather was willing. If it was to be more, shall we say... traditional Northern Irish weather, there were plans to move the concert inside.

Kate Smith of UTV interviews Francie McPeake and Francie Junior about some of their famous admirers which include Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Donovan while Francie Junior reveals that the set of pipes he is playing were specially made for John Lennon when he asked to collaborate with them in the early 1970s.

The tape for this UTV news story is now missing but the piece has been recreated here from the rushes shot on the day.
