Description

The visit to Belfast of Carolyn Zumpewinner of the ‘Girl in a Million’ competition in Queensland, Australia. The annual winner was the young woman who raised the most funds for the Returned Services League and part of her prize was a trip around the Commonwealth. Here, Carolyn gives a press conference and visits the Australian Migration Office in Belfast. 

Notes

The Returned and Services League, Australia (RSL) is a support organisation for men and women who have served or are serving in the Defence Force. 

The ‘One in a Million’ competition was not a beauty pageant but a fundraising competition for young women. It ran between 1959 and 1999.
