Great Golf Journeys team heads to the North Antrim Coast. Unfortunately, bad weather if unavoidable when it comes to golf and this session is proof of it. However, wind and rain are key elements of the game and if you can play well in such testing conditions, it should be easy (hypothetically) for you to play well when it’s sunny and calm. Golf course of the day is Castlerock Golf Club which has been awarded Ireland's ‘Hidden Gem’ for Links Golf on the North Coast.
This old natural links course set amid towering dunes is situated on the Causeway coast and only a 20 minute drive from both Royal Portrush Golf Club and Portstewart Golf Club. Castlerock is a more than worthy neighbour to both of these clubs. Founded in April 1901, the original course comprised nine holes and was laid out on the western part of the present course. Braving the elements, Ronan and his caddie are not discouraged and try to play their best. In a cosy interior of the clubhouse, Joe looks back and remembers his humble beginnings and the thrill of travelling in search of more golf adventures.
