Description

The “Hennessy” was a high profile professional golf tournament held over 72 holes and two days of play. It had first been played at the Clandeboye course near Bangor in Co Down five years earlier and there was quite a buzz in the press about the 1963 tournament. Big crowds were expected to see golfing superstars of the era such as Christy O’Connor and Peter Alliss. These greats of the game turned it on for the occasion with them respectively finishing first and second, registering O’Connor’s fourth straight victory at the tournament.
