Description

Hubert "Hibbie" Wilmot, manager of the Arts Theatre in Belfast, discusses the type of plays the theatre can put on. The theatre has received a grant but can really only put on popular plays that will make money. 

The Arts Theatre had several homes between the time it started on 1st January 1944 and its closure in 1998. It was formed by Hubert and Dorothy Wilmot as The Mask Theatre. It had several homes and name changes before becoming known as the Arts Theatre at a purpose-built space in Botanic Avenue.
