Description

Lots of work to be done to improve the state of Derry Dock. The old docks were in bad need of repair but these improvements were not enough to save it and the port relocated to Lisahally in 1970.

Notes

There has been a port in Londonderry from the 17th century. During World War II, the docks and port were a vital part of the Allied sea strategies and a US Navel base remained in the area until 1974.
