Description

Ernest Strathdee interviewed William Egbert “Bertie” Trimble about his long career as editor of The Impartial Reporter, as well as his family history. The Impartial Reporter had been set up in Enniskillen in 1825 by Trimble’s grandfather who then passed on the editorship to his son and then to Bertie. It was an incredible run of just three editors in a 142 year run until Bertie’s death in 1967. Bertie was also attributed as being the first journalist to give an eye witness report of the Easter Rising in the north of the country.
