Description

Irish snooker success was a major sporting story of the 1980s, with Belfast's Alex Higgins becoming world champion in 1982 (having been runner-up in 1980) while Coalisland's Dennis Taylor took the sport's top prize in 1985. On the eve of Taylor's thrilling victory he was also part of the Irish team, alongside Higgins and the Republic of Ireland's Eugene Hughes, who won the world team championship for Ireland.

Here, they meet the Belfast mayor at a reception and Higgins is interviewed about the new drug tests for snooker players, as well as his thoughts on the tournament. Meanwhile Taylor gives his thoughts on the rising star, Hughes.
