Joe Mahon presents this Millennium Eve special featuring school children and their hopes for the future, but before we look to the 21st Century we must go over what has happened up till now.
You have to be "somewhere on Millennium Eve" and Mahon has chosen Magilligan, Co. Derry, a "microcosm" which has "always been a landmark throughout my life". During this programme, Mahon finds out how we are going to survive and thrive over the next thousand years. Pupils from a local school help to chart out how many lifetimes it has been to take us up to this century and how many scientists estimate will take us into the next millennium.
A topic brought up at various stages throughout, is how we as humans need to be held accountable for the changing landscapes and global warming - with the vast negative effects already underway highlighted. Concluding the episode, Mahon gives a parting speech from Tran Maggie's bakery and raises his glass goodnight.
