Description

Silent footage of the launch of the RImfonn oil tanker, built in the Musgrave Yard at Belfast’s Harland and Wolff shipyard. On the day of the launch it was the largest ship ever built in a British yard. The launch was carried out by Mrs Bergeson, wife of the senior director of the Bergeson Group, the Norwegian shipping company the tanker had been built for. Towards the end there are some shots of girls in Norwegian folk dress and of the Northern Irish Prime Minister Terence O’Neill greeting the Norwegian dignitaries.
