Description

Joe visits the town of Belturbet in County Cavan. He gives a brief overview of its history from Norman times and then speaks to Tommy McMahon about teaching children boating skills on the River Erne. Joe handles a centuries-old sword and talks about some military buildings before interviewing Jude Henderson about the geopark status of the area.

George Morrissey tells Joe about the railway history of the area. Stephen Shannon, Sam O'Keefe and Gerry Corrigan show Joe their efforts at restoring a 'shawlie' train carriage. Brian McDonald and John Bready stand beside some freshly tibered douglas fir which they are using to build their own clinker boats.
