Joe Mahon takes a closer look at Rathfriland, a town in County Down and once the capital of the Magennis family. The ruins of an old castle may still be seen on the hill upon which Rathfriland sits.
This charming town used to be dominated by its market house where local flax and linen makers used to sell their produce. Rathfriland still keeps its trade going though as we will learn at the local cobbler shop. A local historian tells us more about the history of the place, Joe attempts to learn how to scoop Graham’s Ice cream and we will also take a trip to Brontë Interpretive Centre near Drumballyroney Church.
